Traditional Tourism Magazine only provides photos that will make readers bored. Magazine lacks active interaction between users and destinations. Tourism magazine advertising is difficult to demonstrate comprehensively.

 

In order to engage users, Tourism Application uses AR technology with photos, 3D models and sound. Ozturkcan (2021) demonstrated that active interaction in AR technology can stimulate users and increase their attention time. Compared with static pictures, AR technology can awake user’s desire. It allows users to have different experiences and different angle to experience the “virtual” tourism. Tourists not only learn about the history of building, but the culture and means of building as well.

There are a few virtual buttons for controlling information. When Users want to show information about this place such as Hong Kong. First time, it will show landmark in Hong Kong. Second time, it will show recommend foods. If users click Xian place, it shows history of empires. This history is not famous but for foreign is interesting.

Tourism Application uses AR technology with 3D models. Users have virtual tourism experiences to visit different place and show history of the building or landmark. These 3D models will be rotating different angle.

My application has some issues such as font size is too big ever setting “auto-size”. It blocked other picture and word. 3D model is used to engage users to continue reading, so it will be displayed at the beginning.

 

Technical

Version of Unity is 2022.1.7f1, Vuforia Engine and C# script. The picture on magazine can be detected by mobile. The mobile need to be installed the application. Using application scan the picture will show 3D model and introduce or story. 

 

Museum is one of the most popular tourist destinations. Pjtime (2021) demonstrated that tourists can use AR device to observe draws in exhibition. People on these draws will be alive and live the lifestyle in ancient China. This teaches tourists the Chinese culture. These active interactions can be designed for touring of historical buildings too. Tourists can use my application to observe how the king works in the palace when using the AR mobile to scan on the magazine.

Protected historical buildings may not allow entry. Tourists cannot visit the inside of the buildings as the inside of the historical buildings have valuable cultural relics or building structures to preserved. My application can bring users unique experience of “virtual inside” travel and introduce cultural relics.  

My application is to make 3D models to introduce historical buildings and food view. These 3D models not only can rotate horizontally, but also in a 360-degree way because the application wants to show the top of building or bottom of the buildings to the users. Top or bottom can have many secrets.

In the full version of the application, all data will be updated automatically. The application will introduce historical buildings either from the inside or the outside. Jsdjghy application (2022) provides different style AR tourist guides in attractions. The functions are impressive. In the future, we can partner with it and AR tourist guides can be embedded in my application.
